Playa Costa del Sol

The beach Costa del Sol is one of the main tourist attractions of El Salvador, with many hotels and beach clubs. The beach is visited by a lot of tourists for its beautiful beaches, sunsets, gastronomy with fresh seafood and water sports.

Costa del Sol is a beach for all kinds of tourists and with its 15 km the longest of El Salvador, is ideal for jogging, playing beach soccer and beach volleyball. Many foreign vessels arrive because of the sailboats rally in March, and the international marlin fishing tournament in October.

Estero Jaltepeque

At the end of Boulevard Costa del Sol you can access the Estero de Jaltepeque and navigate through mangrove channels and see birds like herons, ducks, and gulls; the mangroves are refuge for migratory and resident birds.

Out to sea

You can go deep sea out of the mouth of Cordoncillo, or the mouth of the Rio Lempa, which is adjacent to the beach Los Negros which is a wonderful quiet unspoilt beach. You can also visit the Montecristo Island where you will find accommodation and food services.

Transport from La Puntilla which is located at the end of Boulevard Costa del Sol to the mouth of the Rio Lempa costs approximately $ 45.00 in a boat with capacity for 12 people and lasts 3 hours roundtrip.

Getting there

By car: From San Salvador take the CA-2 road leading eastwards, at kilometer 43 you will find the detour that leads to the Costa del Sol, turn right and after 15 minutes you will find the detour that leads to the Costa del Sol.

By bus: Terminal South San Salvador, see the route that leads directly to the Costa del Sol, which will take the Boulevard Costa del Sol to La Puntilla.
