Ciudad Arce

Ciudad Arce is located in the department of La Libertad at 575 m above sea level and 36 km from the capital city of San Salvador.

The archaeological site of San Andres is located in this county. Ciudad Arce got its name to honor Manuel José Arce one of the most important leaders in the independence of Central America from Spain.

To get to Ciudad Arce take the Pan-American road (CA 1) which connects from San Salvador to Santa Ana.

Ciudad Arce was formerly known as "El Chilamatal" due to the amount of chilamate trees found there.
